Carmen Schabracq is an Amsterdam based visual artist and theater designer. Within her interdisciplinary practice she investigates the layered nature of human identity and her own role as a female artist. By combining handicrafts, textiles, costumes, performance, painting and sculptural work- she creates her own visual world.
The new Metroscope exhbition is all about the great feelings of motherhood: ‘I TURN MY BLOOD INTO MILK FOR YOU’. Schabracq takes you into the wonderful world of the female body, maternal feelings and the worship of the primal mother. Her expression is reflected in paintings, textile work and masks that are exhibited in specially designed small formats.
