DUSST is one of the newest club nights for a new sound and cultural phenomenon: amapiano. Having debuted on the sunny shores of Ibiza this summer, DUSST now returns for its second edition at Parallel.
DUSST, taking its name from the Zulu phrase meaning “the pianos”, amapiano (or ‘piano) has gone through many mutations since it began in South African townships less than a decade ago. From sweet, deep house-leaning tracks, to the more urgent sound locally known as ‘Bacardi.’ DUSST took inspiration from one of the many local amapiano variants called ‘dust’. At DUSST we present the best artists that have taken the spotlight in the amapiano scene and beyond.
