DUSST is one of the newest club nights for a new sound and cultural phenomenon: amapiano. DUSST debuted on the sunny shores of Ibiza this summer and is now debuting in Amsterdam at Parallel.

DUSST, taking its name from the Zulu phrase meaning “the pianos”, amapiano (or ‘piano) has gone through many mutations since it began in South African townships less than a decade ago. From sweet, deep house-leaning tracks, to the more urgent sound locally known as ‘Bacardi.’ DUSST took inspiration from one of the many local amapiano variants called ‘dust’. At DUSST we present the best artists that have taken the spotlight in the amapiano scene and beyond.

Nicky Summers

Unruly Phoenix

If you say Amapiano, you say Unruly Phoenix. No genre immediately feels as exciting to her as Amapiano, however she isn't bound by that genre alone, loving to surprise crowds with a perfect blend of sounds including Afro tech, melodic-tribal tech & gqom. This talented DJ/Producer has quickly found her place on the best line-ups in the Netherlands and abroad, with gigs at Tommorowland, Down The Rabbit Hole, DGTL, Woohah, Lowlands, Mystery Land, Afro Nation and Best Kept Secret.

While not on stage, Unruly Phoenix is dedicated to her studio time both independently and collaboratively with other artists. Her main focus is to push boundaries, propagating these sounds around the world. Behind the deck is where she feels most alive while sharing uplifting vibrations with everyone she comes in contact with.

Antunes

A huge music lover that connects South African sounds with one’s body and soul; this is how Antunes describes herself as a DJ. Having grown up on her father’s Cape Verdian (West-Africa) sounds and her mothers Surinamese music and Favorite 70’s Soul Playlist, Antunes grew up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence, all which became infused with her own love for Classical music, R&B, Soul, Kizomba and many more genres. Apart from her energetic and musical ways to create unforgettable memories, she also loves to practice her piano skills in producing her own music.
