Showcasing Afro-electronic sounds and rhythms from all corners of the globe, NYC-based DESCENDANTS returns to Parallel for a big ADE celebration! Back again: this time with another stacked line up featuring international talents.

ABOUT DESCENDANTS: DESCENDANTS is the fastest growing community based Afro House experience in New York City. Their mission is to bring beautiful souls together to express and truly experience Afro House and other culturally inspired electronic music. Combining eclectic Afro-Electronic artists from around the world that express a wide range of culturally inspired house music, along with in-house projection mapping and visuals, DESCENDANTS strives to curate spiritually elevated experiences for their visitors.

Get ready for a night of electrifying Afro House and global electronic music featuring some of the most dynamic DJs from around the world.

Da Capo, a South African DJ and producer, is renowned for his soul-stirring remixes and original tracks that consistently move the masses. Joining him is Coco Em, an internationally acclaimed DJ from Kenya, known for her genre-blending debut album "Kilumi" and her pioneering role in East African electronic music.

They'll also be featuring Thakzin, a rising star in Afro Tech and Afro House, celebrated for his forward-thinking, genre-defying productions, and Kitty Amor, a passionate advocate and leading figure in the Afro-house scene, recognized for her dynamic sets and unwavering dedication to the genre.

From the globally-influenced group Homeboyz, led by Nelson Garcia, famous for their track "Matimba" and their latest album IFARADA, to Kapela, a former world-renowned dancer turned DJ who ignites dance floors with his soulful house and afro deep tech sets, the night promises non-stop energy.

Finally, experience the unique sounds of Meedy, the founder of DESCENDANTS, who brings Afro House experiences to the U.S. with deep roots in global electronic music, and Pizzi, a Haitian-American multi-genre artist and producer who blends Afro House, Amapiano, and his heritage into captivating soundscapes.

Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa is a self-taught producer & DJ who first fell in love with house music at an early age, enabling him to have a good ear for music and the unmistakable ability to create blazing sounds to keep masses salivating for more. Now, he’s earned himself a spot as one of South Africa’s and the world’s most highly regarded producers.

Inspired by the biggest names in the house music industry such as Jimpster, Nick Holder, Rocco, Louie Vega, Zepherin Saint, Andy Compton, Black Coffee to name a few; Da Capo has set on a journey to create his mark on the House Music scene. Making waves in the industry with his creative, spirit moving music and his famous “Touch” on remixes, the DJ & Producer doesn’t show any signs of slowing down soon.

Thakzin

Thakzin is a rising and leading producer and DJ in the sound of Afro Tech and Afro House. Born of a South African and Mozambican family of musicians, Thakzin is recognised globally as one of the most promising and versatile producers in the scene - his forward thinking, distinctive sound and ability to combine genres is not only a testament to his musical virtuosity, but a driving force behind the advancement of African electronic music worldwide.

Kitty Amor

Kitty Amor is a DJ, promoter, tastemaker and a passionate representative for the music she plays: Afro-house. As a leading figure within the scene, Kitty has actively spent over ten years fighting for her and her sound to be heard. “If I don’t speak on it and try to advocate change with just my presence, I have a feeling that it will still be missed,” Kitty recently told Beatportal. “You have to use your voice in order to see change.”

Homeboyz

Nelson Garcia Born in Nigeria, Raised in South Africa, Angola, Russia now based in Portugal! World citizen. Started producing by the age 16. The group is now represented by "Nelson Homeboyz" who produced the whole new album IFARADA released in march 2021. Homeboyz have been dedicated to music production for a few years now. They first came to prominence with their track “Matimba” that came out in 2013. Since then they have been working on different projects and an array of renowned artists. Another example of the quality of their work is their track “Ven Pa Ka'' that was released May last year. Besides accumulating over 2M streams online.

Kapela

From being a world renowned dancer to becoming a passionate DJ, Kapela is known to craft sets with a mix of soothing soulful house and afro deep tech sounds. He is known to set entire dance floors on fire all over the world thanks to his energy and love for music and people.

Coco EM

Coco Em, hailed as "The hardest hustling DJ" by Okay Africa, is an internationally renowned artist whose musical journey spans continents. With a career that has taken her from the vibrant rhythms of Nuits d’Afrique in Montreal to the eclectic beats of Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, Coco Em's DJ prowess knows no bounds.

Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Coco Em found her creative sanctuary, birthing her debut album, "Kilumi," in 2020. This masterpiece delves into a diverse soundscape that fueled her during those trying times, featuring 70 unique ideas meticulously sculpted into a mesmerising seven-track journey. "Kilumi" traverses various musical avenues, from the amapiano-inspired "Winyo Nungo" to the high-energy "Kilumi" and the moody trap stylings of "Keep The Pace."

Collaborating with Santuri East Africa studios, Coco Em's artistic vision crystallised into a remarkable EP, a testament to her dedication and the empowering influence of East African mentors. She's not just a musical force; she's also the founder of the Nairobi-based womxn collective, Sim Sima, and her own label, enriching the cultural landscape with her infectious beats and pioneering spirit. Coco Em's debut release, featuring seven Kenyan talents, reflects her artistic soul and the vibrant creative energy thriving in African studios and dancefloors today.

Meedy b2b Pizzi

Meedy is the founder of the Afro & Culturally Inspired Electronic Music platform/label DESCENDANTS, which is leading the U.S. in creating unique Afro House Experiences. He has played side-by-side with the likes of Caiiro, Thandi Draai, Breyth & more.

Meedy's musical foundation began at the age of 2, when his Afghan heritage drew him to the Tabla. He began music production at 13. With his experience, inspiration and newfound confidence in his sound, he is prepared to share his music with the world.
